Ｖトーシスはフェイスリフトの方法のひとつで、アプトスとワプトスをアレンジした治療法となります。皮下組織に糸を埋め込み、物理的にたるみを引き上げる簡易的なフェイスリフトです。同様に糸を埋め込むエックストーシスがありますが、直接的に引き上げることはせず、刺激によってコラーゲンの生産を促して肌のハリや皮膚質を改善するため、全く異なる効果を生むようになっています。Ｖトーシスは、糸の折れ曲がり点を側頭筋腱膜で固定し、逆方向に引き上げることでエックストーシスと同じ効果が得られます。糸も少なくて済むのでダウンタイムは短く、費用面でもかなり軽減されています。ただし、効果には個人差が大きく、糸で持ち上げるため短期的には効果があったとしても、皮膚のたるみそのものを改善するわけではないため、長期的に見ると後戻りをする可能性があります。また、切開する方法より安全ですが糸による問題でリスクを伴うこともあるので注意しなくてはいけません。
持続性がないという欠点
Ｖトーシスのリスクとして最も多いのは、前述のようにたるみが改善されない、あるいは効果が薄いというものがあります。せっかくリフトアップするために糸を埋め込んでも、SMASやリガメントを操作するわけではなく、単純に皮膚を引き上げるという方法のために持続性がないという欠点があります。効果を実感するために、糸を強く引き上げることも可能ですが、無理にやり過ぎると筋組織を引っ張ることでひきつれや片頭痛を起こしてしまうこともあります。切開による方法とは違い、Ｖトーシスは糸を埋め込む手術を行うことで体内に異物があると判断してアレルギー反応を起こす可能性も少なくありません。また、病院によっては衛生面がしっかりとしておらず、不衛生のまま雑な施術を行うところもあり得るため感染症のリスクもあるかもしれません。どちらにしても、リフトアップを永久に保証するものではないため、中期的に見ると皮膚が戻ってきて表情が不自然になることもあるため、定期的なメンテナンスが必要になってきます。
