Vビームレーザーは赤あざや赤ら顔、赤っぽいニキビ跡などの治療に用いられる医療機器です。波長595ナノメートルのレーザー光線は、ヘモグロビンの赤色に対して特別に強く反応します。そのため周辺の組織には極力ダメージを与えず、異常な血管にだけ効果を及ぼすことが可能です。従来のレーザーに比べて、皮膚の深部にまで届くため、エネルギー効率が良いという特徴もあります。またDCDという冷却システムを内蔵しており、肌を冷やしながらレーザー照射を行なうため、さらにダメージを軽減することができます。
Vビームレーザーは出力が大きいため、使い方によっては腫れや内出血が起こったり、炎症を起こしたりすることがあります。多くの場合、内出血は1～2週間で治まります。しかし炎症の後にメラニン色素が沈着し、黒ずんでしまうこともあります。ただ医療機械が使えるだけでなく、しっかりとリスクについて説明し、アフターケアにも気を配ってくれるのが名医と言えるでしょう。
