ＳＯＯＦリフトはＳＯＯＦをリフトアップすることを指します。ＳＯＯＦはスーフと読み、英語の「Sub-orbicularis oculi fat」の頭文字を取ったもので、頬の脂肪のことを指しています。つまり、ＳＯＯＦリフトは頬の脂肪を引き上げるというもので、下まぶたのたるみの引き上げを行うことを指します。頬の脂肪を引っ張ることで、特に目の下のたるみに対して大きな効果を得ることが可能です。またほうれい線に対しても有効なリフトアップといえます。
ＳＯＯＦリフトはあくまでも部位を指すため、その治療法はさまざまです。このためリスクも治療法によって変わってきます。例えばボトックス注射によるものであれば、効果は短いものの費用も安く済みます。一方で外科的な処置をすれば効果が持続するものの後遺症が出るリスクが高くなります。また施術を行う医師が未熟な場合には失敗するリスクが高くなるため、経験が豊富な医師を選ぶ必要があります。
