PRP療法は、自己の血液から血小板を多く含む多血小板血漿を注入して皮膚の細胞の活性化を行って再生と若返りを行う美容医療のひとつです。再生医療のひとつでもあり、主にしわやたるみといった肌の衰えを改善するのに使われます。
PRP療法のメリットは、自己の血液を原料としているためアレルギー反応が出ないという点で、特にしわやくぼみ、ほうれい線などの改善では、レーザーを照射する方法に比べても高い効果があるとされています。一方で、デメリットとしては、原料は自己の血液を用いるため、その時の体調や、その人の体質によって効果が出ないケースも多くあります。なお、変化としてはゆっくりとしたもので１ヶ月から２ヶ月ほど掛かりますし効果も１年から２年程度とされます。

PRP療法の仕組みとしては、血液を採取し、そこから専用の装置を用いて多血小板血漿を抽出することになります。PRP療法では、用意する多血小板血漿によってその効果が大きく変わってくるため、経験を積んだ名医の方がメリットが高いといえます。
特に抽出方法は同じでも、血液の濃度や遠心分離の方法がクリニックによって大きく変わってきます。適度な濃度である方が効果が高く、また持続時間も長くなると言われています。またPRP療法の最大の欠点は、自己の血液を原料としているため血液の質がその結果に大きく左右します。このためクリニックによっては、薬剤の成長因子を添加しているケースもありますが、この場合にも成長因子の質によって結果が大きく変わってきます。特に薬剤を添加するものではしこりやアレルギー反応が出るリスクがあり、より経験を積んだ名医の方が、そのようなリスクを下げることが可能です。ただ上手くマッチすればヒアルロン酸注射などの方法に比べて長期間にわたってしわやたるみの改善を行うことができます。
