ＳＭＡＳリフトは皮膚とSMASの二層で引き上げる方法で耳の前のしわ部分に沿って耳の後ろまで切開を行います。
たるんだ部分の皮膚とSMAS筋膜を剥離して皮膚と組織を引き上げて固定します。

リスクに関しては白目や角膜の損傷 、眼球の火傷、 糸の露出 、糸に対するアレルギー、 糸に違和感、異物感、神経の損傷、フェイスリフトの禿げ、表情が無くなる 、コーンが外れる 、傷の段差・凹み、 耳の変形、 色素沈着など様々なケースが挙げられます。
また手術後はダウンタイム期間が短くて1週間、長いと2週間以上かかるので、休みが多く取れない方には手術を受けることはデメリットになります。
ダウンタイムは1週間から2週間となっていますが、これは外に出ても大丈夫なくらいであって馴染んだり自然になるのはもう少し時間がかかります。
