ロアーリフトは頬から首元にかけてのリフトアップ手術で、年齢によって頬全体のたるみが生じ、四角い輪郭になった顔を逆三角形の小さなフェイスラインに戻す方法です。顎のラインがすっきりすることで、輪郭がはっきりとし、さらに首が細く見えることで小顔の効果があらわれるのが特徴です。顔の下半分を持ち上げるため、通常のフェイスリフトより切開する範囲が小さくなっているので目の周りが腫れることなく、ダウンタイムも比較的短期間で済みます。仕上がりにもよりますが、通常はあまり目立つような傷跡を作ることはありません。ただし、SMASを処置するような本格的なフェイスリフトを必要とする場合は、耳から10センチほど大きく剥離する場合もあります。また、たるみ具合によっては、脂肪吸引を併用する場合もあります。フェイスリフトよりもリスクが軽減されているのが特徴ですが、何も問題を生じないというわけではありません。ロアーリフトでも切開する手術である以上は、色々なリスクを生じることになります。
リフトアップ処理だけ行うという病院もあるので注意
顔のたるみは伸びきってしまった皮膚が下に垂れ下がることで起こりますが、骨と皮膚を繋ぐリガメントと呼ばれる接続部位があるため、大きく垂れ下がるということはありません。しかし、リガメントの間の皮膚が伸びすぎるとシワなどが生じて見た目が悪くなります。ロアーリフトで皮膚を引っ張り上げてもリガメント処理ができていなければ、一時的にフェイスラインが整えられても長期的に後戻りしてしまうこともあるので、本格的な施術を行うことが大切と言えます。クリニックによってはリガメントを少し触れるだけで、リフトアップ処理だけ行うという病院もあるので注意しましょう。上手く処理してもらわないと、皮膚が不自然に垂れ下がるようなリスクもあります。また、ロアーリフトの特徴として頬から首元を持ち上げるので、同時にもみあげの位置が変わってしまうことがあります。通常の位置よりもみあげが上昇するため、元々薄かった人では完全になくなってしまったという事態もあるようです。
