Qスイッチ・ルビ―レーザーは694nmの波長を発光するレーザー光を利用して、シミやそばかすを除去する手術のことです。この波長の光はメラニンに対して選択的に働き、健康な細胞には大きな作用を及ぼさないことが知られています。酸化ヘモグロビンはこの波長の光を吸収しないので、健康な細胞はダメージを受けません。そのため、シミやそばかす、アザなどがある患部以外にはダメージを与えることがなく、失敗が少ない方法でもあります。

Qスイッチ・ルビ―レーザーは薄く小さいシミなら1回で終わりますが、大きさがある場合はある程度弱めの出力で、5回から6回に分けて行うのが普通です。これよりも少なめの回数で済ませる場合は火傷などのリスクが大きくなるので、医師との相談のうえ計画的に行うようにしましょう。
