ニュートンコグリフト（N-COG）はたるんだ顔のリフトアップに用いられる手術のひとつで、医療用の溶ける糸を使用して皮膚を持ち上げてくれます。
使用されるコグは従来の糸よりもジグザグした鋭い棘が入っているため、肌をしっかり捉えて力を逃さないので、均等に持ち上げることができます。また、リフトアップの効果が薄れてきたり、特別な理由がない限りは留意しておいても、いずれ消えることから、摘出する必要もないのが大きなメリットと言えます。

そのため、誰でも気軽に施術を受けることができますが、手術である以上はデメリットも存在するので注意しなくてはいけません。
糸が解けてしまうと効果が残らない
ニュートンコグリフト（N-COG）のデメリットは、短期的に肌をリフトアップできる反面、糸が解けてしまうと効果が残らないという点です。
従来の糸を使ったリフトアップは、加齢によって肌がたるんでしまわない限りは効果が持続するのですが、医療用の糸は200日前後で皮膚組織の中で溶けてしまいます。
そのため、持続する期間は1年程度と短く、短期的には効果が見込めますが、中期や長期間では肌年齢を回復させない限りは後戻りしてしまうのが問題です。
ニュートンコグリフト（N-COG）は外科手術で用いられる縫合用の糸を使用しているため、簡単に切れるようなことはありませんが、留置後に極稀に切れてしまう場合があります。切れてしまうと持ち上がった肌が元に戻ってしまうため、再び施術を受ける必要がでてきます。
また、医療機関で万全を期して施術をしても、挿入した部分の痛みや腫れ、さらに術後に炎症を起こすこともあります。従来の糸より皮下組織との親和性があるので、強い腫れが出ることは少ないですが感染症を引き起こすこともあるので術後すぐは注意しておきましょう。
