スターラックス1540はアメリカ製の新型レーザー治療器です。ニキビ跡や小じわの改善に、またタトゥーの除去などにも用いられます。フラクショナルレーザーと呼ばれるタイプの治療器で、高出力のレーザー光線を使って皮膚に微細な穴を開けます。ダメージを受けた皮膚は、自力で再生しようとして、ニキビ跡などの凹んだ部分を埋めていきます。このとき皮膚が傷つくわけですから、内出血や腫れなどの副作用が出ます。スターラックス1540はレーザー照射と同時に、皮膚の表面を冷却するシステムを備えています。また患部へピンポイントで正確にレーザーを照射できるため、従来のレーザーよりもダメージを軽減することができます。それでも痛みは残ることがあり、通常は1週間ほどのダウンタイムが必要と言われています。痛みが強い場合には、クリニックで処方された鎮痛剤を服用します。また患部を冷やすことで、ある程度は症状を緩和できるとされています。

スターラックス1540が照射する波長1540ナノメートルのレーザー光は、皮膚の深部にまで達し減衰しにくいため、効率的にエネルギーを届けることができます。これは治療効果のアップやダウンタイムの軽減にも繋がります。しかし軽度とはいえ火傷と同じ状態になるので、痛みは感じますし内出血が起こる可能性があります。ダウンタイム中は皮膚が再生している状態であり、このとき強い刺激を与えるのは禁物です。生まれたばかりの抵抗力のない皮膚は、物理的な刺激に弱く腫れやすくなっています。また紫外線を当てると色素沈着を起こすこともあるため、日焼けは避けるようにします。このほか肌の保湿にも気を配る必要があります。
スターラックス1540は、レーザー機器としては比較的安価で治療を受けられますが、医療機器なので取扱いには専門的な知識と技術が必要です。治療効果やリスクだけでなく、施術後のケアについても詳しく教えてくれるクリニックを選ぶことが大切です。
