スペクトラはルートロニック社製のヤグレーザーを使用した治療方法で、マシンから照射されるトップハットビームによって肌の表皮を透過して皮膚の真皮層まで熱エネルギーを届けます。日本の厚生労働省にあたるアメリカのFDAが認めた安全なレーザー治療器で、主に整形外科で治療目的に使用されていますが、毛根にも届くことから脱毛にも使用されている技術です。照射されるレーザーは色素に反応する性質を持ち、特定の色素に熱エネルギーを与えることができるため汎用性が高く、様々な治療に使用されます。美容外科のスペクトラは皮膚を透過させ、均一にエネルギーが到達することから、シミや肝斑の原因となるメラニン色素を破壊する治療を行います。破壊された色素は分解され角質層で薄くなることで、その後のターンオーバーで排出することができます。そのため、黒ずんだ肌で年齢より老けて見えるようなシミや、セルフケアでは落とすことが難しいとされる肝斑も修正することができます。
