頬がこけていると陰影によって顔の輪郭が細くなり、実年齢より老けたように見る以外に、貧相な顔に見えてしまいます。加齢による皮膚のたるみやエラ骨が異常に張っている、あるいは頬の脂肪が薄くなってしまった状態で起こります。こうした状態を改善するために行うのが頬のこけの美容整形で、原因となるエラ骨を削り出すか、自分の体内の脂肪を移動させる脂肪注入法を利用します。骨の削り出しは時間がかかる上に顔に手術跡が残る可能性が高いため、まずはリスクの少ない脂肪注入法を試すことから始まります。ヒアルロン酸などの注射法もありますが、異物として拒否反応が出る可能性があり、さらに定着できずに時間が経つと吸収されて元に戻るというデメリットがあるため、拒絶反応がなく定着しやすい脂肪注入法が良いと言われます。頬のこけの美容整形をしてもすぐには定着せず、時間をかけて調整していく必要があるので、術後のアフターケアが非常に重要となっています。

頬のこけの美容整形における脂肪注入法は、注射器によって脂肪を採取して、気になる部位に注入しますが、細胞や血管を傷つけるとせっかく注入した脂肪が壊死してしまうことがあります。そのため、注入した脂肪が定着しやすいように、細かく丁寧に注入していくことが非常に重要になってきます。ヒアルロン酸やコラーゲン注射と比べて、注入後に腫れることがあるほか、内出血を起こすこともあります。アフターケアが杜撰なクリニックでは、こうした問題が起こっても相談に乗ってくれない、処置してもらえないということもあるので注意しましょう。また、エラ削りは余分なものを削り取る手術となるので、注射などとは違って永久的に効果が持続するのが特徴ですが、注射とは違って大がかりになるため、術後の腫れやダウンタイムに時間がかかります。頬のこけの美容整形はどの方法を利用しても顔の輪郭を美しくできますが、逆にアフターケアがしっかりしていないとバランスが崩れてしまうこともあるので医師の指導の元に正しい方法でケアしていきましょう。
