ハムラ法が適しているのは、下まぶたのたるみやしわが気になる、目の下の膨らみが大きい、くま（黒くま）が目立つ、老けて見られる、という人です。
下まぶたは皮膚が薄いため、年齢とともに周囲にしわやたるみができてしまいます。目の下に膨らみが見られることがありますが、あれは眼窩脂肪（がんかしぼう）というものです。
これを切除する方法もありますが、この方法だとかえって皮膚のたるみやしわが助長されてしまい、老けた印象に仕上がってしまうというデメリットが多かったです。
